Devils vs Florida Panthers 1/20/2010
The Florida Panthers, coming off a 3 game winning streak, were eager to add number 4 to their record. The Clara La San, however, had other plans! Both goalies put on impressive performances, yet the Devils managed to outshoot the Panthers, resulting in a late goal in the second period. At 18:39, the score was Devils 1 Panthers 0. In the final period, the game came down to the last two minutes. The Panthers decided to pull their goalie to gain an advantage on the power play. Shortly after, a penalty against the Devils led to them having 4 skaters (plus goalie) on the ice. Despite the Panthers dominating the play in the Devils' zone, the Devils' defense stood strong, thwarting their attempts. In the closing moments, the Devils had two opportunities to score on the open Panthers goal. The first shot missed wide, but the second seemed promising until it hit the post and deflected away. With less than 4 seconds remaining, the puck once again entered Panthers territory but was a weak and off-target attempt. A New Jersey Devil player, likely number 11, raced after the loose puck, chased by two Panthers. With just one second left on the clock, the puck was hurled towards the net. As time expired, the Devils notched their second goal, securing a 2-0 victory over the Panthers. It was a thrilling conclusion to a well-fought match by both teams.
